Title: Emma & Hermione Take a Stand!
Subtitle: By film number three, the line between actress & character began to blur
It's taken several years and five films, but it seems that actress Emma Watson is becoming more and more like her on-screen persona...in the sense that she has truly become outspoken (not a bad thing) and is sure-footed in her determination to stand up for herself.
"They [the media] just decided, with absolutely nothing to go on, that they were just going to make up one way or another what I was doing," Emma proclaimed incredulously. "I guess they got the idea that I wasn't going to complete the series because I actually took some time to think about it. The press is funny like that."
It was a frustrating period for her, but one that she found some solace from by being able to turn to her co-stars and friends Daniel and Rupert. "Dan and Rupert are the only other people in the world who will understand what it is like to have been through what I have been through..."
Emma...in the past has, while not exactly placing distance between her and Hermione, certainly played up the different between them.
"I think Hermione is very bossy," she shared several years ago, "so in the films I get to boss Daniel and Rupert around, but I hope that doesn't happen too much in real life. She's very determined and very loyal. I'm not as academic as she is - I spent a lot more time doing sports and art. I'm not quite as obsessed on the book front."
Even as recently as the release of Goblet of Fire she was proclaiming the same type of thing, stating, "I'm careful to separate me and Hermione. There's part of me as Hermione and being part of that industry, and there's me, Emma, and they're two very different people...you never mix the two, ever."
"I guess I'm a bit of a feminist," Emma offered. "I don't know. It's really important to stand up for yourself, and [Hermione's] never afraid to take control of a situation or be the brains behind anything...In many ways, she bosses the boys around...In my own life, there have been times when other people thought that they knew what was better for me, and that the better for me was not to think...I usually do what I'm told."
