Snowboardist I can! I like english very much! This year I' m going to pass the FCS exam.

Well, ladies and genltemen. So I think it's time to practice in english a bit...
What can i say about roman languages...i think the reason of their similary is very simple..just recall the influence of the roman empire.the latin language was just a bit changed by local people and they gave own dialects.later those dialects of latin became independent languags(if i can say so).
Next:there are a lot of latin words in any language because europe used latin as the language of knowlage, the language of culture and so on.evrybody used the latin languge as the way to seem well educated.there also a lt of latin languages in russian, but it also has some greek, german and french words in the lexicon(or,i forgot about newly popular english...)

Sure!

asko, Yep, I agree. In any language there are a lot of latin words. The same concerns Russian - you see, from Peter's I times everything European was very fashionable - including foreign words. Gradually they also have got accustomed, and now everybody pronounce words, like "sandwich" ten times a day.
But at the beginning of the twentieth century, it seems, people wanted to replace all similar to foreign words - for example, "valenki" on "мокроступы" 8)(не знаю. как это пишется:)

Melodiana
You are a bit wrong. There were a lot of times when Russians tried to replace everything foreign including words. For example lets recall Ekatherine the Great and even Alexander Third and Nicolas second.Do you know why Petersburg was recalled into Petrograd?Grad is an old Slavic word and after the first world war with Germans began in 1914 Russians began to hate all German and even the name of the great Northern Palmire.
So now there's an internalization of the Russian language and in some time (who knows) there can be returning to the Rusification again.

I don't understand other languages because i haven't already start to study them, but English (British) I know very well.

At the same i'll fresh French in my brain, but it's too late to frash it and it's too boring!

Elemental, yep... I learn French, but it is to hard to learn the language, when the teacher laugh at every word... That's why I know only a few words in French...
